Respected Teachers and Dear friends!

My name is Shreyan & Today I am going to share some thoughts about Dussehera.

Dussera - It is about getting rid of 10 evils.

Dussehera - It is about victory of good over evil, light over darkness and wisdom over ignorance.

Dussehera - It is about spreading joy and happiness.

This is the day - Lord Ram got victory over the powerful and mighty Ravan.

This is the day - Maa Durga killed the deadly monster Mahisasura

This is the day - For all of us to do sadhana (austerity) and get Siddhi (perfection)!

This is also called as Vijaya-Dasami. This is celebrated for 10 days including Navaratri. We get holidays during this time to spend time with family and friends. The world famous Dussera celebration happens in Mysore.

With this I wish all of you a very Happy Dussera !! Sarvesam Shantih Bhavatu!!

1. 10 evils are :  Kama- (Lust), Krodha (Anger), Moha (Attachment), Lobha (Greed), Mada (Pride), Maatsyasya Or Irshya (Envy), Ghrina (Hatred), Bhaya (Fear), Jaddata (Insensibility) and Ahankar (Ego). 

2. Dussehra is celebrated in Ashwin, the 10th month of the Hindu Calendar. It falls sometime around October or November.
